However, that does not mean they NEVER learned those crucial skills. Nor does it mean they cannot improve them. The reality is life teaches us so many of these lessons. In this presentation, we will explore how the stories of our lives provide us so many of the skills we need to be great leaders…to be great communicators. The only question is are we taking time to listen to those stories?

Debbie is the VP and Practice Administrator at Wainright & Wassel DDS in Raleigh, NC. She has extensive training in dental management and has been working in the dental field for over 30 years. Debbie is a proud member of the American Association of Dental Office Management, and she serves as Co-President of the AADOM Triangle Chapter. She received her Diplomate from the American Association of Dental Office Management in the Fall of 2021. (Masters in 2018 and her Fellowship in 2016). Her AADOM Triangle Chapter is the largest chapter in the country and has won the “Chapter of the Year” for the last five years. Debbie has been recognized nationally by being awarded AADOM’s “Practice Administrator with Distinction” award for three consecutive years, from 2017 through 2019, and in 2020 she was awarded the AADOM’s “Practice Administrator of the Year” award!

Liz is the Director of Operations for Charles Ashley Mann, DDS and Associates in Cary, NC where she has been for the past 18 years. She began her 46 year career in dentistry with a job after school at her local dentist and was trained as a dental assistant. Through the years she has worked the front desk, has been a trainer for Eaglesoft dental software, supported her own Practice Management business, and managed single and multiple location dental practices. Liz is a proud member of the American Association of Dental Office Management and serves as Co-President of the Triangle Chapter in Raleigh, NC. Their Chapter is the largest one in the country and has won “Chapter of the Year” for the past five years. She has been published in various Dental Publications and received her Diplomate distinction in the Fall of 2021.

Dr. George J Schmidt is a 1998 OKU graduate of the UMDNJ-NJ Dental School where he received his DMD degree. He is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists. In addition to private practice Dr. Schmidt Serves as a Trustee on the Academy of General Dentistry’s Oral Cancer Foundation and teaches dentistry at two local Universities. He is an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor in the CDE Implant department at NYU College of Dentistry where he is the surgical director and also serves as an Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in the Department of Diagnostic Sciences. He is the host of the Academy of General Dentistry’s National Podcast, is active with the Academy of General Dentistry as the chairman of the scientific meetings council, past chairman of the AGD Council on Dental Education, and Past President of the NJAGD. Dr. Schmidt is passionate about dental education and lectures nationally on Dental implants, restorative dentistry, and practice management.

Dr. Bill Simon is a 1983 graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine. He is the owner of two practices in Chicago, City Smiles and Sonrisa Urbana. Aside from his often described as “dramatic” career, which included a major office fire, an embezzlement scheme and robbery at gun point, Dr. Simon maintains active memberships in the Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, the ADA and is a Fellow of the ACD, ICD and PFA. Dr. Simon currently serves on the CDS Midwinter Meeting Affairs Committee. He is a past President of the CDS North Side Branch, sits on the ISDS Board of Trustees, Vice Chair of the Executive Committee, and the immediate Past Chair of the ISDS Access to Care Committee. Ross W. Nash, DDS has maintained a private fee for service practice in Huntersville, North Carolina where his focus is on esthetic and cosmetic dentistry. He graduated from North Carolina State University as a textile engineer and 4 years later went on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for his dental degree graduating in 1978 at the age of 31. He is the co-founder and President of the Nash Institute for Dental Learning located in Huntersville, North Carolina, an AGD approved post graduate training facility for dentists and their teams. Dr. Nash has served as adjunct faculty member in post graduate training in cosmetic and esthetic dentistry for many dental schools including Baylor, NYU and Medical College of Georgia. One story, my story. Life lessons, learning, the baggage we carry, and what sets us apart.

Tija was named one of the Top 25 Women in Dentistry by Dental Products Report Magazine. She is a member of the American Dental Assistants Association (ADAA) where she holds the honor of Master. Tija is a contributor to many dental publications. She is the director of the Dental Careers Institute, and sits on the editorial board for OSAP. She is also the former editor to Dental Assisting Digest. Tija is the author of seven CE study courses, a book on motivation; Rock Star Dental Assistant, and a Dental Compliance Calendar. She is an international speaker and is a certified trainer in nitrous oxide in several states. Tija holds certification in OSHA and HIPAA.

Drawing from lessons learned while interviewing a dozen dental consultants for a recent white paper (What to Look for in a Dental Consultant), I will share three important takes aways. First, the importance of the dentist's long term vision for their practice and the Dental Consultants role in its formation. Next, we will cover the easiest, fastest way to help a dentist ensure their vision becomes reality, on a budget - a quick calculation that should drive every marketing budget decision. Finally, we'll talk about the benefits of a new movement in dental marketing; a real-time, collaborative and consultant-led process for quickly and effectively getting the right patients in the practice door.

Kyle Zak has over 10 years of experience in the Dental Profession. Kyle joined the DentalPost team in 2012 and is currently the COO. How many times have you said, “if I just had more new patients, I would be successful”? You’ve tried everything, or so you think. You’ve marketed your practice in the movie theaters and on grocery store carts. You sponsor your local little tykes t-ball, and you are a member of your local Chamber of Commerce. So where are all your new patients you wonder? Well, when was the last time you bought a new bed??? My hope after this presentation is that you realize the power of having an amazing customer service core within your practice. Kelly Lynch is a Master of AADOM. She retired from dental management in 2022 and is currently working as a Team Development Coach with the Productive Dentist Academy. Her passion comes from offering her skills and knowledge to dental practices that are looking to create a practice environment that consistently exceeds patient expectations and is highly productive; while nurturing teams that are enthusiastic and take ownership in the success of their practices. Kelly published her first book in 2018, has published numerous articles and is a contributing author for a variety of dental publications and eBooks. Creating “Platinum Practice Solutions” in 2015, Kelly provides every member of the dental team with valuable coaching in the areas of ultimate team cross training, office systems and guidelines, and communication styles that consistently produce results. She loves sharing her knowledge with audiences, helping them to not only ignite their passion to find ways of elevating patient care, but to develop the confidence within themselves to be successful. Kelly lives in Maine with her husband Fred and their cat, Annika. They are thankful to have their two children, five grandsons and Kelly’s mother all living within ten minutes of each other. Kelly enjoys gardening, cooking, finding her inner peace at one of many ocean beaches she lives near, and spending time with her family. She has an adventurous streak and is unafraid to try new things. She skydives, whitewater rafts, parasails, and her latest adventure involved getting her motorcycle license at the age of 57 and buying a new motorcycle!

They’re coping with inflation, increased practice overheads, a possible recession, a dental workforce shortage, and the lingering effects of Covid. After teaching high school science for ten years, Dana moved to dentistry to help her husband (who is a dentist) run his practice. She has been working in the dental field for over twenty years now. She began her speaking career accidentally in 2006, while addressing an international group of dentists, sharing tips and tricks of Bettering Your Best in the dental practice. She found a passion for sharing information to help dentists and their team members pursue an attitude of excellence to grow their dental practices. Dana is a Fellow of American Association of Dental Office Managers, and a member of the Academy of Dental Managers & Consultants, as well as the Speaking & Consulting Network. She was awarded the honor of SCN’s Spotlight on Speaking Winner in 2019. Dana is a speaker, teacher, trainer and coach for leadership, culture and systems in the dental practice. She is also a certified trainer for the Five Voices of Leadership. Dana enjoys teaching foundations of excellence for the dental team and also enjoys building leaders and liaisons within the dental practice. Join Frankie Staton, revolutionary singer-songwriter who pioneered the way for black musicians in Country Music

From a young age Frankie Staton woke up singing songs she heard in her dreams. It was between 1977- 1981 when Staton began to nurture this innate passion for music as a singer and pianist at the High Point Market, the world's largest home furnishings trade show which attracted 70,000-80,000 attendees from over 100 countries, giving Staton exposure to a global audience during her first five years as a musician. This inspired Staton to relocate to Nashville, TN in 1981 to share her unique style of piano playing and storytelling with a larger music market. While maintaining a residency as a performer at the Gaylord Opryland Hotel & Convention Center, one of the 30 largest hotels in the world, Staton also performed in many of the iconic venues responsible for buoying Nashville’s status as Music City. Staton’s approach to performing proved to be ahead of its time in a city which had not been familiarized with African American women in the country music space. Despite being met with opposition from Nashville’s music industry, Staton consistently earned local opportunities including a position for 10 years as a performer on The Ralph Emery Early Morning Show while also making several appearances performing on the American talk show, Nashville Now. Staton made history after challenging the New York Times’ claim that stated diversity did not exist among country music’s performers and listeners by creating the first Black Country Music Showcase at the Bluebird Café in 1997. Within five years, Staton established a national platform for over 60 country singers of color across the U.S. who had struggled to gain opportunities in the country music industry. Her efforts to help country artists of color canonized Staton in ‘90s Nashville’s local music scene, sparking a national conversation that has continued to this day in publications such as Rolling Stone while also landing Staton a feature in the Amazon documentary, For Love & Country, and earning Staton a slot alongside The Black Opry in the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum's exhibit series, American Currents: The State of the Music - Unbroken Circle, set to open March 7, 2023 and will remain active into 2024.
